Sciton's erbium resurfacing system offers versaltility for improving many skin conditions.
General Resurfacing:
Weekend downtime: Microlaser Peel and Profractional. 3 days downtime. Removes surface epithelium for improved skin texture. Profractional provides modest tightening of skin and wrinkle improvement.
One Week Downtime: Full surface resurfacing removes epithelium and sufficient dermis to greatly improve wrinkles and provide tightening of skin with improvements in brow height and lower lid/cheek junction & diminished jowling.
Specialty Applications:
Acne scare improvement: Profactional treatment of acne dramatically improves skin texture and appearance.
Thick Scars may be improved with Profractional laser. This followed immediately with intralesional steroid which enter the scar through the just created microcolumns in the skin.
Micro Laser Peel
Recovery Time: 2-3 days
The newest skin rejuvenating peel, the Ultimate Laser Peel, is a double-laser peel that makes three times the difference in a single appointment. This remarkable new peel treatment means that patients don't have to schedule up to five repeat sessions in order to attain a glowing, youthful complexion. The Ultimate Laser Peel is performed with the state-of-the-art Sciton Laser and includes a mix of laser treatments to remove brown and red age spots, eradicate fine lines and wrinkles and skin tightening. Down time is minimal, three to five days of pinkness and the results are dramatic.
Sciton MicroLaser Peel™
The Sciton MicroLaserPeel is ideal for patients with little downtime to spare. This peel removes fine lines and wrinkles plus leaves fresh youthful skin in its wake. Known as the weekend procedure with immediate, lasting results, this Erbium Yag laser is one of the foremost precision lasers available today. The precision inherent in this Sciton head reduces any discomfort for perfect coverage and uniform ablation that was not possible with other laser systems.
Laser resurfacing using the Contour head is excellent for scar revision as well as laser resurfacing.
ProFractional™
Recovery Time: 2-3 days
In fractional resurfacing, the laser removes pinpoint columns of skin, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. This approach allows the laser to penetrate very deeply for effective collagen remodeling, while the surrounding intact tissue promotes rapid healing. For dramatic improvement in wrinkles, scars, tone and texture with little to no downtime, patients are applauding the Sciton ProFractional laser. This quick and comfortable laser procedure is used to improve the overall appearance of your skin using a laser microbeam to treat thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin. And because only a fraction of the skin is directly treated with the laser, healing time is abbreviated and recovery downtime short.
The ProFractional laser is used to treat:
Wrinkles and fine lines
Post-traumatic scars
Acne scars
Age spots
Sun spots
Freckles
Aging and sun-damaged skin
The ProFractional laser uses laser energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin which are surrounded by areas of healthy, untreated skin. The zones of untreated skin invigorate the body's natural healing process, and the treated areas stimulate production of new collagen, plumping up the skin and smoothing out wrinkles, lines, scars and other irregularities.
Candidates for the ProFractional laser are those with scars, wrinkles or sun damage who want younger-looking skin. The face, neck chest and hands can be treated with the ProFractional laser and procedures take from 15 to 30 minutes depending on the condition of the skin and the size of area being treated. In some cases, a numbing cream may be applied prior to treatment to ensure complete comfort.
Treatments are typically done in a series of one to four treatments spaced three to six weeks apart, depending again on your area of need. Sometimes your Rocky Mountain Laser technician will recommend that your ProFractional laser treatment be combined with a MicroLaserPeel or another treatment for the best results.
After treatment, you may experience a mild redness and most patients can return to their normal work/play schedule within one to two days following treatment.
Full Surface Resurfacing
Recovery Time: 1 Week
In full field resurfacing, the entire surface area of the skin is treated. A laser beam is scanned across the entire face and precisely removes a layer of skin. The body will naturally replace the old, damaged skin that was removed, with a fresh, healthy layer. Treatments can range from shallow (which might be appropriate for eliminating fine lines, sun spots and tired-looking skin) to deep (which is often used to improve skin tone/texture and eliminate deep wrinkles, even in difficult areas like upper lip lines and crow's feet).
