Will my Health Insurance cover treatments for my vein problems?
Most insurance companies will cover treatments for varicose veins.  There are Medical Guidleines
established by each insurance company. We recommend scheduling a consultation to help           determine if your problem veins meet the criteria for medical treatment. During the consultation we           will review your medical history, understand your symptoms, and "listen" to your veins using                   Doppler.  At this point, if it is determined that your problem veins could be considered for medical           treatment, we will then schedule an appointment for an ultrasound to conclude our findings.

If my problem veins are not considered "medical" what is the cost of treating cosmetic veins?
Cosmetic veins can be treated using either laser treatments or sclreotherapy, Dr. Adelman will               discuss with you the best option for your problem veins.  The cost for treatment varies according to         the number of problem areas you have.  Prices are typically $200 per treatment with
the average person requiring 4 treatments.  Go to our Spider Veins page for more information.

How long will I be out of work?
You can return to normal activity immediately with little or no pain.  Avoid strenuous excersise such        as heavy lifting, aerobics, weight training, bicycling or running for 2 weeks.  Walking daily is                    encouraged and promotes speedy healing.

What should I expect from the local anesthesia used during the EVLT and AP procedures?
Local anesthesia is applied to the leg being treated to make you comfortable during the procedure.         You will be able to walk around immediately after the procedure. We recommend having someone           pick you up after your procedure merely as a precaution.  The local anesthesia may last for
approximately 1 hour or more after the procedure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?
Yes, laser hair removal is permanent, however the stimulus for hair growth in an area is never
permanently removed.  For instance, you can't control hormonal changes that cause new
growth.

How many treatments will I need?
The projected number of treatments needed is 4-8, with the average being 4.  Several factors
effect how many treatments may be necessary, such as skin color, tan, hair color and
coarseness - also making sure to follow our recommendations before and after treatments.

Do I have to let the hair grow before treatments?
NO.  You can shave or clip the hair as you would normally. DO NOT tweeze.  We want as much
of the laser energy as possible to be absorbed by the melanin near the hair root.  If we left hair
on the surface of your skin, the laser energy would vaporize it and we would loose too much of
the laser energy on the surface of the skin.  You should plan your laser treatments 4-6 weeks
after your last electrolysis treatment or waxing.  You will receive the most economical benefit
with laser hair removal if you have a high density of hair growing in the desired treatment area.

Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?
The treatment is described by many as being similar to being "popped" by a rubber band.
Treatment is so fast that most people do not mind what little discomfort they feel, however each
individual varies.

What type of Laser do you use for hair removal?
We have a Light Sheer XC400 Diode Laser System, made by Lumenis.
